How well do I understand as an over-producer of garbage myself. Garbagemen & insects will inherit the planet.

Lol. Though I could not in a million years imagine you producing garbage. I resonate with your aesthetic too much. But I agree, all-in on garbagemen and insects.

I intensely relate to all of this.

As for our desire to have our minds constantly occupied, I think of that as a way of dissociating from reality. It's a coping mechanism.

I also have followed Taibbi for years, since I came his criticism of Tom Friedman. I don't agree with his politics of late, but I can't deny he's a fantastic writer. https://delong.typepad.com/egregious_moderation/2009/01/matt-taibbi-flathead-the-peculiar-genius-of-thomas-l-friedman.html

So much cope, yes! Redirected anxious energy. I can't call the relationship to podcasts parasocial anymore. It's a one way street and there is nobody at the other end. Got me thinking about who exactly is served by those kinds of definitions of things like liminal, silo, and parasocial. I also enjoyed reading Taibbi way back when. Now so much of it feels like finely crafted spam.
